(Dover, DE – September 10, 2025) – Today, Brian Frazee, President and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association, issued the following statement regarding Delaware’s leadership on vaccines as flu season approaches.

Governor Matt Meyer recently announced that Delaware will join other Northeast states in a regional public health coalition that will include a focus on developing evidence-based recommendations on vaccinations, disease surveillance, emergency preparedness and supporting state public health labs. The Governor and Division of Public health also issued a standing order to protect COVID-19 vaccine access. In addition, the Department of Insurance has issued a consumer advisory on health insurance coverage for immunizations. These announcements show a commitment to recommended vaccinations and important disease prevention work.

“The Delaware Healthcare Association commends Governor Matt Meyer, the Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Public Health, and Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro for their leadership on proven public health measures. Vaccines are critical to stopping communicable disease, lessening symptoms, reducing hospitalizations and preventing death. Last year, hospital emergency departments were hit with an influx of respiratory illness, and upcoming federal changes will strain systems even more. The best way to prevent illness is to get vaccinated against flu, COVID-19, and if applicable, RSV. Preventative measures like frequent handwashing, maintaining social distance, wearing a face mask that covers both your nose and mouth, and staying home when sick are also essential to preventing the spread of disease. We thank our Delaware leaders for clear communication regarding insurance coverage and availability of immunizations. When all residents have access to preventative care, including vaccines, our communities are stronger and healthier. Every day, our clinicians work to increase vaccination rates across all of Delaware’s communities and are laser-focused on education around the benefits of vaccination. We look forward to partnering with the state on awareness as we move into flu season and thank our leaders for their efforts to make the First State First in Health.”
