Following the House of Representatives May 22 passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”, a sweeping package that would enact many of President Trump’s legislative priorities on taxes, border security, energy and deficit reduction, the Delaware Healthcare Association issued the following comment. The bill includes significant changes to the Medicaid program and Health Insurance Marketplaces.

“Cuts to Medicaid means less healthcare for Delaware’s children and families. Uninsured individuals are less likely to seek preventative care and more likely to delay needed care, resulting in worsening health conditions and more trips to hospital emergency rooms. This is not only dangerous, but it also goes against our mission of ensuring quality, accessible, and equitable healthcare for every Delawarean. Our hospitals will be left to bear the extreme costs of these policy decisions. That means strains to finances and critical resources, overburdening the healthcare workforce, stunted innovation, and risks to high-quality, accessible care. Nearly 1 in 4 Delawareans rely on Medicaid, so the health of our children, aging loved ones, and neighbors is very much at stake. We thank our Congressional Delegation for their steadfast advocacy and call on the U.S. Senate to reject these harmful cuts included in the House bill,” said Brian Frazee, President & CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association
