Delaware Ranked 2nd in the Nation for Hospital Quality
by U.S. News & World Report
(Dover, DE – June 10, 2024) U.S. News & World Report recently released its 2024 “Best States” rankings with positive health care news for the state of Delaware. Delaware
ranks second in the nation for hospital quality, sixth for health care quality, ninth for overall health care, and tenth for health care access.
“We are proud that Delaware is leading the nation for hospital and health care quality,” said Brian Frazee, President and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association. “Delaware’s hospitals and health systems are committed to providing the highest quality care for each and every Delawarean, and it shows.”
Delaware achieved high marks in the following categories:
- Delaware ranks # 2 for Hospital Quality, a measure of hospital success in performing or treating various procedures and conditions, such as cancer surgeries, organ failure, joint replacement and more.
- Delaware is ranked # 6 for Health Care Quality, calculated based on Medicare quality, hospital quality, nursing home quality and preventable hospital admissions.
- Delaware is ranked # 9 on the list of the best states for Health Care, measured on health care access, health care quality and public health outcomes.
- Delaware is ranked # 10 in Health Care Access, a measure of health care affordability, child wellness visits, health insurance enrollment, adult wellness visits, adult dental visits, child dental visits and health care affordability.
