“It's been a really tough couple of years for healthcare providers at the bedside; a lot of stress, a lot of illness,” said Delaware Healthcare Association Interim President Megan McNamara Williams.
Wayne Smith, president and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association, said in a statement that state hospitals plan for an increase in respiratory illnesses every year in the fall and winter seasons.
The Association recently released its 2022 report, showing Delaware hospitals contributed an estimated $978-million-dollars statewide during Fiscal Year 2020.
Hospitals, schools, long-term care facilities and prisons nationwide are struggling to hire and retain nurses, and Delaware is no exception.
