New report ranks Delaware among top U.S. states for variety of health care figures

DOVER — Delaware ranks among the top states in the nation for a variety of health care figures, according to a new report from U.S. News & World Report.
The state ranks second in the country for hospital quality, which is based on performing or treating various procedures and conditions, including cancer surgeries, organ failure and joint replacement.
Delaware also ranks sixth for health care quality, which is based on hospital, Medicare and nursing home quality.
According to the report, the First State is ninth on the list of best states for health care and tenth for health care access, which considers affordability, health insurance enrollment, affordability, child wellness visits and children and adult dental care.
“We are proud that Delaware is leading the nation for hospital and health care quality,” said Brian Frazee, president and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association. “Delaware’s hospitals and health systems are committed to providing the highest quality care for each and every Delawarean, and it shows.”
