DHA Statement on Approval of Delaware's 1332 Waiver

Delaware Healthcare Association President & CEO, Wayne Smith, released the following statement in reaction to the approval of Delaware's 1332 Waiver: “Congrats to Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Secretary Kara Odom Walker, Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro, and their teams on gaining approval from CMS for a 1332 Waiver to create a reinsurance program for the Delaware individual health insurance market. This innovative approach should reduce premiums in the individual market by as much as 20 percent. For Delaware individual market participants, health insurance will be more affordable and accessible.”

New Orleans Appeals Court is Next Step in Determining Affordable Care Act’s Future

A federal appeals court in New Orleans is currently contemplating the future of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in reviewing Texas v. the U.S. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit will decide by the fall of this year whether or not to uphold the 2018 ruling of a federal court judge in Texas that the ACA cannot stand on its own and is unconstitutional since Congress last December repealed the individual mandate.

As Interagency Transfer Form Pilot Program Concludes, Facilities Gear Up to Go-Live!

In March of this year, the Delaware Healthcare Association (DHA) announced the launch of a new Interagency Transfer Form Pilot Program to improve the communication process during patient transfer between hospitals and other healthcare providers. Now, after several months in the pilot stage, feedback from pilot participants is being gathered and the final version of the form is being refined, with the goal to “go-live” across the state on October 28th of this year.
